Who, What, Why?
For Lyn & Peter, Gray & Tobias, Jemma, & especially for Augustus & Ezra
Myles Durham was a gifted multi-instrumentalist, poet, songwriter, and visual artist whose creativity flowed through every part of his life. Whether through music, words, art, gardening, or worm-farming, he had a rare ability to express beauty, emotion, and deep reflection in a way that resonated with those around him. Over the years, his artwork was featured in exhibitions, reflecting the same soulful depth and originality found in his music. This website is a growing tribute to Myles’ creative spirit, and as more photographs, artworks, recordings, and memories are lovingly uncovered, they will be added here to help preserve and celebrate the extraordinary life and artistry he shared with the world.

A deeply soulful musician, Myles Durham was a man of immense heart, quiet wisdom, and boundless spirit.
SMALL MOTORS, circa 2019-2021. Some of the music shared on this website was humbly recorded on a phone during a Small Motors rehearsal session - raw, intimate, and beautifully alive. These recordings have since been remastered to bring greater balance and warmth to the songs, while still preserving the honesty and spirit of those moments. Though the lyrics drift beyond clarity because of the quality of the phone recording, what shines through unmistakably is Myles himself: his passion, his warmth, his humour, his soul. Every note carries a piece of his spirit, and every song remains a beautiful echo of the man so many knew and loved.
Listening tip: Imagine you are listening to a foreign language song - you might not know the words, but you definitely feel the intention. :) :)
STILL, circa early 2000s. The other recordings on this website are from the band Still. Myles wrote many of the songs, with friend and musician Dan Erickson, and played drums and guitar alternately. Myles also sang on some of the songs, with Dan Erickson providing main vocals on most of the recordings.

A Life of Music, Art & Nature
One of Myles' favourite quotes : "The most spiritual men, as the strongest, find their happiness where others would find their destruction" #NIETZSCHE

Artwork by Myles Durham, from 2017 Exhibition " Colours Edge" at the Mezzanine Gallery, Darlington WA
"I had hired Myles to prune and weed my very overgrown winter garden. He was enthusiastic to do it, and started off keenly.....then spent most of the next 3 days telling me about worm 'wizz', the grounding spirit of rocks and trees, and how rocks hold the memories of since time began. He built small stone pyramids all over my block, drank endless cups of herbal tea, napped in the spring sunshine, and sat with me on the front steps discussing the philosophy of Nietzsche, Jesus, and the complexities of living life. The pruning and the weeds? Who cares....." Abi Hall, Darlington WA
